My name is Nigel Wiley. I live in Indian Trail North Carolina. I am seventeen and am going into my senior year in high school. I play football for Sun Valley High School in Monroe NC. I am a starting varsity receiver and have played since my freshman year. I am also an active member in my church at Watts Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Monroe. I am an usher and participate in Sunday school and Wednesday night bible school.
Watts Grove is the site of my Eagle Scout project. The project was a 15 by 15 raised garden bed with azalea bushes inside of stone pavers. We constructed wooden benches to sit on when people visit the cemetery of their loved ones. We also cleaned the church cemetery up by raking all the dead leaves around the graves.
I have recently finished my six months of senior patrol leader for Troop 1 in Monroe. Scouting has made so much of a difference in my life. It has helped me become a better leader at my church and in football. It has created so many good memories for me. I have had a lot of fun in scouting and enjoyed the people I have met along the way. The places I visited I will never forget. I have had so many great opportunities in scouting like canoeing seventy-five miles in Canada. And completed a week long NYLT course that will help me further my leadership skills and learn some new ones that I could show to the future leaders in my troop. I know scouting has helped me to be a better person and now it’s my job to help others.
Nigel is the son of Mr. Ronald & Charlene Wiley; also members of Watts Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
